Armed Robbers Loot US$40 000 from Delta Beverages Depot in Rusape

Four armed men carried out a daring robbery at the Delta Beverages depot in Rusape.

They made off with an estimated US$40 000.

Police Confirm Armed Robbery at Delta Depot

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident to The Herald, saying officers are actively investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Delta Beverages depot in Rusape. He said the suspects overpowered security guards on duty before using explosives to blow open three safes at the premises.

“Yes, we can confirm that police are handling an armed robbery case where armed robbers attacked the Delta depot in Rusape after subduing security guards and blew the safes,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Robbers Overpower Security Guards

The incident occurred on Monday when the suspects cut through the depot’s perimeter fence and overpowered three security guards on duty.

Wearing balaclavas to conceal their identities, the robbers seized firearms, handcuffed the guards, and even sprayed their eyes with pepper spray.

They also confined the security dog to its kennel before forcing the guards into the cash office.

Explosives Used to Loot Safes

Once inside, the suspects used explosives to blast open three safes and take all the cash inside.

Following the heist, they vanished into the night before any alarms could bring assistance. One of the guards later freed himself and his colleagues and reported the crime to the Rusape Central Police Station.
