Over 50 Pupils, Teachers Hospitalised After Bee Swarm Attack at Bulawayo School

More than 50 pupils and teachers from Barham Green Primary School in Bulawayo were hospitalised on Friday after a swarm of bees descended on the school, leaving dozens suffering from multiple stings.

The unexpected attack triggered panic on the school grounds as learners and staff scrambled for safety while emergency services were called in to assist.

Emergency Response Mobilised

Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mhlangano Moyo, who attended the scene, said the incident created a chaotic situation as victims sought shelter from the aggressive swarm.

Emergency responders quickly coordinated rescue efforts, with four ambulances dispatched to transport the injured to Arundel Hospital at United Bulawayo Hospitals for medical attention.

Victims Receive Treatment

Health workers moved swiftly to assess and treat those affected, many of whom had sustained multiple bee stings during the attack.

Authorities said all victims received urgent medical care after arriving at the hospital.

Officials are expected to assess the circumstances surrounding the bee attack and determine what may have triggered the swarm.

The incident has raised concerns about safety at schools and the need for rapid emergency response measures when unexpected environmental hazards occur.
