Bulawayo Chiefs face PSL punishment after Chibuku Cup chaos

Bulawayo Chiefs have been handed a US$2,000 fine following disorderly conduct after their Chibuku Super Cup clash.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) imposed the punishment after their first-round meeting with Hardrock FC.

The match took place at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday, 16 August 2026.

Assistant coach Agent Sawu and captain Melikhaya Ncube also received individual sanctions.

Chiefs punished after match incidents

The PSL charged the club, Sawu and Ncube under Order 15 of its Standing Orders.

That regulation covers behaviour that interferes with the proper running of matches.

It also addresses aggressive conduct, equipment damage and other unacceptable actions.

Consequently, Bulawayo Chiefs received the largest punishment among those sanctioned.

The club must pay US$2,000 following the disciplinary proceedings.

Meanwhile, Sawu and Ncube each received US$500 fines for their involvement.

PSL reinforces discipline message

The latest sanctions underline the league’s determination to protect professional standards across its competitions.

Furthermore, the PSL expects clubs, players and officials to respect match regulations.

Order 15 applies to conduct before, during and after matches.

Therefore, the league can punish individuals or clubs when their behaviour disrupts proceedings.

The PSL’s decision reinforces its broader push for discipline and professionalism.

It also sends a strong warning ahead of the competition’s upcoming rounds.
