Truck Disappears From Parking Bay

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case to H-Metro and identified the complainant as Midmore Karinga of Chinhoyi.

According to Inspector Chikanza, Karinga parked his red Isuzu two-tonne truck, registration number AHI 8926, before going into the nightclub.

However, he left the vehicle unsecured.

Police are investigating a theft of motor vehicle. The complainant parked a red Isuzu 2 tonne truck, registration AHI 8926, at a local night club along Harare Street and went into the club.

He left the car keys on the ignition. The doors of the vehicle were not locked,” said Insp Chakanza.

Realises Mistake 45 Minutes Later

According to police, Karinga only remembered that he had left the truck unsecured about 45 minutes later.

He immediately returned to the parking area but found that the vehicle was no longer there.

He went to where he had parked the vehicle and discovered that it was missing from the parking bay,” said Chakanza.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the truck and are appealing to motorists to take greater care when leaving their vehicles unattended.

Police Warn Motorists

Chakanza urged drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly secured, even when making short stops.

We continue to urge motorists to be responsible, secure their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables in parked cars,” he said.

The incident has sparked a wave of humorous reactions online, with social media users criticising the motorist for leaving his truck unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Some questioned his judgment, while others joked that he may have been too distracted by the nightclub entertainment to remember securing his vehicle.
