Former two-division world boxing champion Zolani “Last Born” Tete was murdered outside his Mdantsane home on Friday, August 21.
The 38-year-old boxing star was ambushed while sitting inside his car.
According to police, two men wearing balaclavas carried out the deadly attack.
A 27-year-old woman was also shot during the incident.
She survived the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Tete’s killing has sent shockwaves through South Africa’s boxing community.
The former champion had recently started planning his return to professional boxing.
However, those plans were tragically cut short by Friday’s deadly attack.
Four Men Arrested Over Tete’s Killing
Police have since arrested four men aged between 22 and 28.
A fifth man, aged 30, was initially arrested during the investigation.
However, police later confirmed that he would now serve as a witness.
The 22-year-old suspect, Uzu Kuwana, faces murder and attempted murder charges.
He has already appeared before the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, two other suspects face separate firearm-related charges.
Police have not yet established a motive for Tete’s murder.
Nevertheless, investigators believe further arrests could still follow.
All four suspects are expected to appear in court on Tuesday, August 25.
