ZB Bank Gutu Branch Shut After Robbers Break In And Blast ATM

Robbers reportedly broke into a ZB Bank branch at Mpandawana Growth Point in Gutu through the roof before using explosives to blast an ATM and escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

The robbery was first reported by Masvingo Mirror on 25 August.

Gutu ZB Bank Robbery Leaves Manager Injured

According to Masvingo Mirror, the robbers gained entry through the roof before targeting the ATM inside the branch.

The bank’s alarm was triggered during the raid, prompting the branch manager to rush to the scene.

Masvingo Mirror reported that the manager was injured while trying to flee from the robbers.

“The bank manager who rushed to the scene after the bank alarm system went off, was injured as he ran away from the robbers.”

The amount of money taken during the robbery has not been disclosed.

ZB Bank subsequently announced that its Gutu branch would temporarily close following the incident.

ZB Bank Targeted Again After Ngezi Robbery

The Gutu incident comes less than three months after another ZB Bank branch was reportedly targeted at Ngezi.

Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi could not immediately be reached for comment when Masvingo Mirror sought information about the latest robbery.

The latest incident has left questions about how the robbers gained access to the premises and escaped after targeting the ATM.

For now, the value of the cash stolen and further details surrounding the investigation have not been made public.
