Faiz Abrahams has described his Kaizer Chiefs debut as a proud moment after receiving his first opportunity.
The 21-year-old featured from the bench during last week’s match against Richards Bay.
The entertaining Betway Premiership encounter eventually finished in a 2-2 draw.
However, Abrahams focused on the positives after getting his first taste of senior action.
The winger joined Amakhosi on loan from Stellenbosch FC earlier this season.
He arrived alongside fellow young player Langelihle Phili as Chiefs strengthened their squad.
Before entering the match, coach Fernando Da Cruz gave Abrahams a clear attacking instruction.
“The coach told me to go out there and create chances for us to get back into the game,” Abrahams was quoted on the club’s website.
The youngster believes he made a positive contribution during his time on the pitch.
“I think I made a few opportunities that we might have scored from, so I am quite happy with how I did,” the former Stellies star added.
Young winger looks ahead after debut
Despite the draw, Abrahams felt Chiefs produced enough quality to claim maximum points.
Nevertheless, he acknowledged that certain moments ultimately prevented the Soweto giants from winning.
“We played well enough to win the game but we had a couple of misfortunes which we will definitely work on cutting out going forward.
“It was my first time travelling with Kaizer Chiefs. It felt good to be included and I appreciate the coach’s belief in me. I have worked hard since I arrived and I am grateful for the support I have received and honoured to be playing for this great Club.”
Meanwhile, Chiefs have made an encouraging start to their Betway Premiership campaign.
Amakhosi currently occupy third place after completing their opening four league matches.
They have collected two wins and two draws during that unbeaten run.
However, Orlando Pirates lead the standings by two points.
Chiefs will now turn their attention towards their upcoming league meeting with Siwelele.
Abrahams will hope his debut appearance opens the door for further opportunities this season.
