Bulawayo Man Dies After Jumping Onto BMW During Spinning Stunt Display At Tshabalala Arena
A night of entertainment at a spinning event in Bulawayo ended in tragedy after a 26-year-old man fell from a moving BMW and died at the scene.
Thabiso Nkala, from Tshabalala, reportedly jumped onto the vehicle as it performed spinning manoeuvres at a designated arena on Sunday night.
He suffered severe head injuries in the fall.
Police said the incident happened at about 8.30pm on August 30, 2026.

Fatal stunt ends in tragedy
The BMW was being driven by a 25-year-old man from Hillside when the incident occurred.
According to police, the driver had one passenger in the vehicle when Nkala reportedly jumped onto the car during the spinning display.
He subsequently fell from the moving vehicle.
The impact left him with serious head injuries and he died instantly.
Bulawayo provincial police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the fatal incident to The Chronicle, stating;
“The incident occurred on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at around 8:30PM. A 25-year-old man from Hillside was driving the BMW sports car with one passenger on board when Nkala reportedly jumped into the vehicle while it was performing spinning maneuvers. Upon jumping onto the vehicle, the now deceased fell off and sustained head injuries, which led to his death on the spot,” Ndlovu said.
She said Nkala jumped onto the vehicle while it was performing spinning manoeuvres before falling off.
Body taken to hospital mortuary
Police were alerted following the incident.
Nkala’s body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary, where it is being held pending a post-mortem examination.
No further details about the circumstances leading to the fatal stunt were immediately available.
Police warn spectators against dangerous behaviour
The tragedy has prompted police to warn both spectators and motorists attending spinning events to take safety seriously.
Ndlovu urged members of the public to keep a safe distance from vehicles involved in stunts.
She specifically warned against jumping onto moving cars, hanging from vehicles or positioning themselves too close to spinning vehicles.
“Members of the public are warned that no amount of excitement justifies putting one’s life at risk.
We also condemn the practice of jumping onto moving vehicles, hanging onto cars or standing too close to vehicles performing spinning maneuvers. Such behaviour is reckless and dangerous,” she said.
Police urged spectators to enjoy such events without engaging in actions that could place their lives at risk.
