Father Regis Chikuni’s Disappearance Ends With Tragic Discovery In Harare
Father Regis Chikuni, a Roman Catholic priest who had been missing for several days, has been found dead at Parirenyatwa Hospital’s mortuary in Harare, the Archdiocese of Harare has confirmed.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, by Father Ephraim Murwira, the Archbishop’s Secretary. Father Chikuni’s disappearance had prompted the Church to appeal for information and prayers as efforts were made to establish his whereabouts.

In the death notice, Father Murwira confirmed that the missing priest had been found deceased at the hospital mortuary.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Father Regis Chikuni. Tragically, he was found deceased at the mortuary of Parirenyatwa Hospital.”
The Archdiocese did not disclose the circumstances surrounding his death or the cause of death.
Earlier reports showed that Father Chikuni had been declared missing, with the Archdiocese asking anyone with information to assist in locating him.
Archdiocese Of Harare Mourns Priest
The Church described Father Chikuni’s death as a profound loss and remembered his pastoral work and contribution to the community.
“His dedication to his pastoral duties and the impact he has had on our community will forever be cherished in our hearts.”
The Archdiocese said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
It also urged the faithful to come together in prayer as they mourned the priest and reflected on his life and service.
