Here’s How Much the Warriors Stand to Earn at AFCON 2025

Zimbabwe’s senior men’s football team, the Warriors, could earn significant financial rewards at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which kicks off on 21 December in Morocco.

What Zimbabwe Stands to Earn

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set aside a US$32 million prize pool for the tournament, with all participating teams guaranteed a minimum payout.

According to Soccer24, Zimbabwe is assured US$500 000 for taking part in the competition or finishing fourth in their group.

A third-place finish in the group stages would see that figure rise to US$700 000, while qualification for the Round of 16 would earn the Warriors US$800 000 — a milestone the team has never achieved at AFCON.

Progress beyond the group phase brings even greater financial incentives. Teams reaching the quarter-finals will pocket US$1.3 million, while semi-finalists stand to earn US$2.5 million.

The tournament’s runners-up will receive US$4 million, while the eventual champions will walk away with a US$7 million prize.

The Warriors held their final training session at Rufaro Stadium ahead of their departure to Morocco later today.

Team officials say preparations are at an advanced stage as the squad gears up for the continental showpiece.

Rivals Test Form in Friendly Matches

While Zimbabwe remains in Harare, several AFCON-bound teams are engaging in warm-up matches. South Africa will face Ghana, Egypt take on Nigeria, and Angola meet Mozambique as final preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.

The Warriors are expected to depart for Morocco today as they prepare to compete on Africa’s biggest football stage.
