Zimbabwean MMA fighter Themba Gorimbo always polarises his own people back home in Zimbabwe. From the days he publicly attacked Winky D, fans marked him as arrogant and unpatriotic. Since then, every defeat he suffers inside the cage brings mocking celebrations on Zimbabwean timelines.
However, Gorimbo rarely backs down or softens his voice on social media platforms. Instead, he leans into the chaos, tweeting boldly and daring critics to match his brutal honesty. Consequently, many locals follow him closely, not for support, but for drama and controversy.
Yet the fighter insists he represents the flag with pride, whether cheered or booed. Furthermore, his relocation to the United States widened the emotional distance with some supporters.
They accuse him of forgetting home, while he accuses them of celebrating his pain. This toxic back and forth set the stage for his latest football taunt. Now, the AFCON drama has intensified that rift.

When Egypt crushed Zimbabwean hearts with a late Mohamed Salah winner, Gorimbo saw online chaos brewing. As goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda lay heartbroken, he posted a split image with himself on the canvas. Then he added a fiery caption in Shona that instantly ignited debate across social platforms.
“Ndiyana akafa zviri nane apa, ini ndakaona angel Gabriel
bvunzai Arubi akaona ngirozi ipi. I bet haana kana kuona mai Maria Pa Gate rekubuda wava kudzoka kunyika.” Translated loosely, he claimed dying was better, saying he saw Angel Gabriel after his brutal defeat.
Meanwhile, he joked Arubi probably missed even seeing Mary at heaven’s exit gate. The timing appeared deliberate, as fans already mocked him whenever he lost inside the cage. Now he reversed the script, laughing first and daring them to feel his familiar sting.
Therefore, his banter felt less like humour and more like open provocation. Zimbabwe Twitter certainly noticed.
