Zimbabwean footballers continue to raise the country’s flag across African football. Several Warriors stars have reached the continent’s biggest club stage.

Now, defender Divine Lunga has joined an exclusive list of Zimbabwean legends. He achieved the milestone after lifting the CAF Champions League title with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Zimbabwean stars built a winning legacy

Zimbabwe has produced players who delivered on Africa’s biggest football stage. Over the years, Warriors stars helped powerful clubs dominate continental football.

Former striker Christopher Semakweri became one of Zimbabwe’s early Champions League winners. He helped TP Mazembe claim the title in 2010.

Mazembe controlled African football during that period. The club later represented Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Khama Billiat inspired Sundowns to continental glory in 2016. He delivered outstanding performances throughout the campaign.

Billiat also became one of the competition’s top performers. He played a major role as Sundowns defeated Zamalek SC in the final.

In addition, Cuthbert Malajila also secured Champions League success that year. Despite injury challenges, he remained a valuable member of the squad.

Divine Lunga joins Zimbabwe’s football greats

Now, Lunga has added his name to Zimbabwe’s growing list of continental champions.

Mamelodi Sundowns won the 2025/26 CAF Champions League after a tough 1-1 draw against AS FAR Rabat in the second leg.

His latest achievement highlights Zimbabwe’s continued influence in African football. It also strengthens his place among the country’s celebrated football figures.

Furthermore, Lunga’s success gives young players another source of inspiration. His journey proves Zimbabwean talent can still shine on the continent’s biggest stages.

As more local players secure opportunities abroad, Zimbabwe’s list of Champions League winners could continue to grow.
