‘We are organising’: Chamisa breaks silence after Mnangagwa signs CAB3 into law

Nelson Chamisa has finally broken his silence after President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the contentious Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 into law.

The former opposition leader addressed Zimbabweans through Facebook. His message focused on unity, citizen participation, and peaceful democratic change.

Chamisa described the moment as a turning point for the country. Furthermore, he urged citizens to remain united despite growing political tensions.

Chamisa calls for unity and citizen action

In his statement, Chamisa said Zimbabwe had reached a defining moment. He argued that citizens now face an important choice.

According to Chamisa, people can unite for justice and accountability. Alternatively, division could allow existing challenges to worsen.

He wrote:

“A UNIQUE MOMENT…The struggle for freedom and the fight for a CITIZENS GOVERNMENT in Zimbabwe has been reignited. One thing has become unmistakably clear: the unelected and unelectable fear the collective voice of the citizens.”

Chamisa also stressed that Zimbabweans share both a common struggle and a common future.

He added:

“Today, we face a common challenge: oppression. We also share a common destiny: A New Great Zimbabwe.”

‘The future belongs to the citizens’

Moreover, Chamisa insisted that lasting political change depends on ordinary Zimbabweans. He encouraged citizens to remain peaceful while pursuing transformation.

He said history proves that meaningful change comes through unity, perseverance, and collective action.

Chamisa declared:

“History has shown that lasting change is built through citizens solidarity, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to change and transformational peaceful action.”

He concluded by urging supporters to prepare for a new political movement.

In his closing remarks, Chamisa wrote:

“The future of Zimbabwe belongs to us, #WeTheCitizens. We are organizing #TheNew. Be and get ready. #NewCitizensMovement #Godisinit.”

His statement marks his first public response since the signing of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3. As political debate continues, many Zimbabweans will closely watch his next steps and the direction of the proposed New Citizens Movement.
