Mai TT Faces 30 Days Behind Bars After Missing Court Over Father’s Funeral
Versatile Zimbabwean comedienne Mai TT, whose real name is Felistas Murata, is at risk of returning to Chikurubi Female Prison if she fails to pay a $30 fine. The fine was imposed after she missed a recent court appearance where she was expected to testify as a state witness.
Mai TT had been summoned to court but failed to show up last week. She later appeared before Harare Magistrate Lyn Chizhou in an attempt to have the resulting arrest warrant cancelled.

Court Unconvinced Despite Widely Reported Funeral
In her defence, Mai TT explained that she missed the court date because she was attending the funeral of her father, Edward Murata. Despite her claim and the widely reported news of her father’s death on social media and in various news outlets, the court remained unconvinced, as she did not provide any documentation to support her explanation.
Mai TT’s father, Sekuru Edward Murata, passed away nearly two weeks ago, a fact confirmed by the church leader, Apostle Dr. L. Bwanya, in a social media post.
“On a sad note, Spirit Filled International Ministries and the Murata family have lost a father, uncle, leader, hero, prayer warrior, and a loving friend. The church has lost a great leader, but the heavens have gained. Fly high, soldier Murata, and MAY HIS SOUL REST IN ETERNAL PEACE. May the Holy Spirit comfort the Murata family, the Visionary’s family, and the church at large,” Apostle Dr. Bwanya wrote.
