Woman Arrested Over Fake Parirenyatwa Nursing Recruitment Scheme

A 39-year-old woman from Eastview, Harare, was arrested after defrauding five aspiring nurses and nurse aides of US$3,000 through a bogus recruitment scheme.

Judith Ruzvidzo was remanded in custody following her court appearance last Friday and is scheduled to return to court on June 23 as investigations continue.

Promise of Hospital Placements

It is in State’s case that Ruzvidzo approached one of the complainants, who is said to be her friend, in February this year and claimed she could facilitate nursing training placements at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

She allegedly encouraged the complainant to spread the word to other individuals seeking opportunities to train as nurses or nurse aides.

The State claims that her assurances convinced several hopeful candidates that she had the connections needed to secure places at the hospital.

Five Candidates Pay US$600 Each

According to court documents, the complainant met Ruzvidzo at her Eastview home on February 15, 2026, in the company of Agnes Juma.

During the meeting, five prospective trainees allegedly handed over US$600 each to Ruzvidzo, bringing the total amount paid to US$3,000.

The accused reportedly promised that all the placements would be secured by May 15, 2026.

Suspicions Raised After Failed Follow-Ups

Problems allegedly emerged when the complainants began seeking updates on the promised placements.

Court papers state that Ruzvidzo became unreachable, with repeated attempts to contact her proving unsuccessful.

After discussing the matter among themselves, the complainants allegedly discovered that each of them had paid the same amount and concluded that they may have fallen victim to a scam.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigations

Investigations led detectives to Ruzvidzo’s Eastview residence, where she was arrested on May 27 at around 2pm.

She now faces fraud charges, with authorities continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged scheme.
