Mofokeng set for global stage spotlight

Meanwhile, Relebohile Mofokeng prepares for a major international test. He is expected to play a key role for Bafana Bafana.

Bafana open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Mexico. The match takes place on Thursday, 11 June.

The iconic Estadio Azteca will host the opener. Notably, it once staged Diego Maradona’s famous 1986 “Hand of God” moment.

Interestingly, the same teams also met in 2010. That match also served as a tournament opener in South Africa.

Mexico enter the clash ranked 14th globally. They aim to start strongly in front of home support.

Bafana sit 60th in the world rankings. They will look to cause an early upset.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 South African time.
