Guruve Serial Killer Anymore Zvitsva Now Linked With 21 Killings: Victim Count Still To Be Established

The suspected Guruve serial killer, Anymore Zvitsva, is now directly linked to at least 21 murders, with police confirming the victim count is still being established. This shocking figure emerged after Zvitsva led officers to two new graves on Saturday, 10 January 2026, adding a mother and son to a rapidly growing list of alleged victims.

The discovery came just days after Zvitsva’s court appearance on Monday, 5 January 2026, where prosecutors had detailed a list of 19 separate murder charges spanning a ten-month period. The mounting body count has plunged the Guruve community into deeper horror as the full scale of the alleged killing spree comes to light.

The Grisly List Of 19 Detailed In Court

During the hearing at Harare Magistrates Court, the state presented a detailed, numbered chronology of victims. Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe outlined the following 19 alleged murders linked to Zvitsva between March and December 2025:

  19. Shalom Malunga – killed on 22 December 2025 in Bosha Village.

Two More Graves Raise Total To 21

The list expanded dramatically just five days after the court hearing. On 10 January 2026, Zvitsva was taken from custody to the rugged Mavare area. There, he directed police to the graves of 24-year-old Charity Karembera and her three-year-old son Tendai, who had vanished in March 2025.

Their exhumation brought the total number of victims linked to the suspect to 21. A report from The Herald described the emotional scene and a disturbing admission from Zvitsva at the toddler’s grave. The report quotes him as saying:

“I felt pity for the child after I killed the mother and killed him, too.”

The Herald account also contained a harrowing but unreported detail about Charity’s remains, stating:

“Zvitsva explains what happened to the head, but for journalistic purposes it cannot be written, except that it borders on cannibalism and body parts trafficking.”

Nation Awaits Final Death Toll

With 21 victims now officially linked to the suspect, authorities have confirmed the investigation is ongoing to establish the final death toll. Detective Assistant Inspector Peter Gwavuya of the CID Homicide Unit has strongly opposed bail, arguing the accused poses a severe ongoing risk.

Zvitsva was remanded in custody and is scheduled for a formal indictment on 19 January 2026. As the legal process continues, the nation watches to see just how high the number of victims will ultimately climb.
