Zimbabwe Sables Receive Vehicle Sponsorship Ahead of Australia 2027 World Cup

The Zimbabwe Rugby Union has sealed a strategic partnership with CFAO Mobility Zimbabwe, which will provide crucial transport support to the senior national team.

This comes as the Sables intensify their preparations for the 2027 World Cup campaign.

The sponsorship package, unveiled yesterday, includes a fleet of vehicles and a team bus to aid the Sables during their preparations and home fixtures as they build toward the global showpiece in Australia.

Vehicles Handed to Technical Team

According to The Herald, as part of the agreement, CFAO Mobility Zimbabwe donated a Toyota Hilux to Sables head coach Piet Benade, while assistant coach Ricky Chirengende and team manager TJ Chifokoyo each received a Suzuki Jimny.

In addition, the company availed a bus for team use during training camps, local matches and other official engagements. The sponsorship arrangement is set to run until the 2027 World Cup.

CFAO Mobility Zimbabwe managing director Carl Varga said the company was proud to back the Sables at a crucial stage of their journey.

Sport is a very mobile environment, and we’re proud to support the Sables,” said Varga. “They are on the move and going places — particularly to the World Cup. I think I join every Zimbabwean in saying how proud we are of this team and what Zimbabwe Rugby is doing.”

International Support on the Cards

Beyond local assistance, the partnership could extend internationally through CFAO’s global network. Varga indicated that discussions were underway to explore transport support for the team while abroad.

We have an agreement centred around transportation — the use of vehicles, buses and related services,” he said. “Because we are part of an international group, we will engage our dealerships and distributorships in countries where we have representation to see if they can assist the team when they travel.”

While such support would depend on individual companies within the group, Varga expressed optimism that the global footprint could benefit the Sables during overseas assignments.

ZRU Welcomes Long-Term Partnership

The partnership was warmly received by the Zimbabwe Rugby Union’s interim management committee, represented at the event by Chifokoyo.

We want to thank CFAO for reaching out and showing readiness to support,” he said. “This is exactly the type of partnership we are looking for as we embark on this journey over the next few years.”

Chifokoyo emphasised that the Sables are determined to make their mark on the international stage.

“Organised chaos is what we are all about, and we intend to show the world what Zimbabwe rugby stands for,” he said.

Nations Cup First Stop

The Sables are set to return to international competition in July when they participate in the Nations Cup — a key milestone in their build-up to the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

Chifokoyo described the tournament as a vital stepping stone.

The Nations Cup provides us with a good opportunity. Starting this July, we will be back on the international stage, and from there, the focus shifts firmly to the World Cup,” he said.

With logistical backing now secured, Zimbabwe Rugby believe the Sables are better positioned to focus fully on performance as they chase success on the road to Australia 2027.
