Zimbabwe Embassy in UAE Advises Nationals to Remain Calm and Limit Movement Amid Rising Tensions

The Embassy of Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates has advised Zimbabwean nationals living in the Gulf state to remain calm, exercise caution and minimise non-essential travel amid escalating regional security concerns.

In a notice dated 2 March 2026, the mission said it is closely monitoring developments and will provide further updates as necessary.

The advisory primarily affects Zimbabweans residing in major cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which are home to a sizeable diaspora community.

Consular Assistance Available

The Embassy urged its nationals to adhere strictly to safety instructions and advisories issued by authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

The embassy said Zimbabweans requiring urgent assistance should contact its offices in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate in Dubai.

Officials emphasised that diplomatic staff remain available to support citizens as developments unfold, reiterating the importance of staying informed through official communication channels.

Rising Tensions in the Region

The warning comes as tensions in the Middle East intensify following military action involving the United States and Israel against Iran over the weekend.

Iran has since retaliated by targeting US and Israeli-linked assets in the Gulf region, heightening fears of broader instability.

On Monday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly declared the Strait of Hormuz closed, warning that vessels attempting to pass through the strategic shipping route could face attack. The waterway is a critical corridor for global oil supplies.
