Sikandar Raza Demands Improvement After Dominant Win Over Bangladesh
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza says his team must continue improving despite beginning the T20 International series against Bangladesh with an impressive 32-run victory at Queens Sports Club.
Zimbabwe successfully defended their total of 170 for six by bowling Bangladesh out for 138, but Raza insisted there was still plenty of work to do ahead of the second match on Friday.
He said the team would review its performance in the dressing room before returning with an even sharper display in the next encounter.

Zimbabwe targeting bigger totals
Raza believes Zimbabwe must adapt to the demands of modern T20 cricket by consistently aiming for scores closer to 200 rather than settling for totals in the 160 to 170 range.
The skipper said the team has deliberately strengthened its batting by selecting eight recognised batters, giving players the freedom to attack without fear once they are set.
According to Raza, the approach is intended to change the team’s mindset and ensure Zimbabwe remains competitive against the world’s leading T20 sides.
Batters lay solid platform
Zimbabwe’s innings was built around an aggressive start from Brian Bennett, who struck 44 from 30 deliveries, including six boundaries and a six.
Ryan Burl then anchored the closing stages with an unbeaten 30, while Brad Evans added quick runs late in the innings with an unbeaten 19 off just 10 balls to push Zimbabwe to a challenging total.
The score proved enough on a Queens Sports Club pitch that has traditionally favoured teams batting first.
Fast bowlers dominate Bangladesh again
Zimbabwe’s pace attack once again proved decisive as Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani ripped through Bangladesh’s batting order.
The pair shared eight wickets and conceded only 43 runs in their combined eight overs, using their height and accuracy to extract extra bounce from the surface.
Ngarava’s outstanding spell earned him the Player of the Match award as Zimbabwe took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Bangladesh searching for answers
Bangladesh senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin admitted his side had struggled to cope with Zimbabwe’s fast bowlers throughout the tour.
He said Ngarava and Muzarabani had consistently caused problems during the Test, ODI and T20 matches, adding that Bangladesh must develop a better strategy to counter the duo in Friday’s second T20.
Salahuddin acknowledged that Zimbabwe’s towering seamers made the difference in the opening match and said his players needed to be smarter when facing them if they hoped to level the series.
