The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that detectives are conducting investigations into the incident.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigators are working to establish exactly what happened.

“Police are carrying out a comprehensive investigation linking a local musician to a road traffic accident in Kariba. The musician was reported to have clashed with revellers at a show leading to a commotion. One of the revellers, and the expecting mother, were injured.”

Witnesses quoted by H-Metro said the disturbance allegedly started after stones were thrown towards the performer during the show. The ensuing commotion reportedly caused people to flee in different directions.

The publication reports that the pregnant woman allegedly fell onto the road amid the confusion as Malloti prepared to leave the venue. She was reportedly struck by a vehicle and rushed to hospital, where she was admitted for treatment.

White Vehicle Allegedly Involved As Police Continue Investigations

Commissioner Nyathi said preliminary investigations indicate that a white vehicle believed to have been driven by the musician was involved in the incident.

He added:

“The musician was later stopped while she was in Karoi in a blue vehicle. Investigations are continuing with a view to ascertain what actually transpired.”

Police have not announced any arrests or charges in connection with the incident as of 29 June 2026.
